| 6/6/05 | Aylesbury Civic Centre | Aylesbury | Pre-show workup by Ozzy -> Intro-Sabbath Medley, N.I.B., After Forever, War Pigs, Dirty Women, Fairies Wear Boots, Symptom Of The Universe [instrumental] -> Sweet Leaf [instrumental], Electric Funeral, Iron Man, Into The Void, Black Sabbath, The Wizard, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath [intro] -> Paranoid, Intermission, E: A Bit Of Finger [intro] -> Children Of The Grave | AUD | Excellent digital audience recording from the warmup show for Download Festival, as well as their entire 2005 European tour. Just weeks after the show, this tape wound up on the Japanese bootleg CLUB GIG (Power Gate). Quality wise, this is the best recording I've heard so far from the tour. Tony's guitar is especially clear in this mix, but Geezer could have been raised a bit more for my taste. There are a few flubs here and there, such as Bill forgetting to change his rhythm during one of the transitions in "N.I.B." and an early aborted siren for "War Pigs", but these things are to be expected during a warmup show such as this. If anything, I was very impressed with how lucid Ozzy sounded singing the songs. Instead of the zombie-like readings we'd come to expect from previous tours, Ozzy actually sounds very much in the moment and aware of every word he is singing here. Bill throws in a few very powerful drum fills that have the urgency these songs require. I'm still going through this one, but already I'm loving Aylesbury 2005! There may be an additional source for this show, but this is not yet confirmed. CD Bootlegs: CLUB GIG (2005 Power Gate - Japan) |

CD Bootlegs: TWO NIGHTS IN GERMANY (Lost & Found - Japan): Also includes Munich 6/16/2005. This one became available as a Japanese boot just weeks after these shows happened. |
| 6/11/05 | 'Download Festival' - Donington Park | Leicestershire | Intro-Sabbath Medley, N.I.B., After Forever, War Pigs, Dirty Women, Fairies Wear Boots, Symptom Of The Universe [instrumental] -> Sweet Leaf [short arrangement] -> Electric Funeral, Iron Man, Into The Void, Black Sabbath, The Wizard, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath [intro] -> Paranoid, E: A Bit Of Finger -> Children Of The Grave, Outro-Changes | AUD/PRO | Only days after this show has happened, I have been able to confirm numerous sources for this show, thanks to Tom A. These include: Source #1: Complete show, recorded with headphones into a MiniDisc recorder. Source #2: Complete show from Sony DCR-HC14E digital video camera audio track. Source #3: Complete show from another digital video recording. Source #4: Complete show – MiniDisc recording done with MZ G755 microphone. Recorded close to the stage In addition, Tony Iommi mentioned to BBC's "Rock Show" (on June 16th) that there were plans to release their performance as an official DVD! |

CD Bootlegs: TWO NIGHTS IN GERMANY (Lost & Found - Japan): Also includes Dortmund 6/9/2005. This one became available as a Japanese boot just weeks after these shows happened. |
| 6/18/05 | 'Fields Of Rock Festival' - Evenemententerrein Goffertpark | Nijmegen | N.I.B., After Forever, War Pigs, Dirty Women, Fairies Wear Boots, Electric Funeral, Iron Man, Into The Void, Black Sabbath, The Wizard, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath [intro riff] -> Paranoid, E: Band Introductions, Children Of The Grave | AUD | Four known sources so far, but only 1 complete recording of the show. I have received some interesting media samples from fans at the show. It's interesting to see how many of these new samples are being originated from digital camera or MP3 recorder devices, as opposed to the traditional cassette walkman, MiniDisc or DAT. Obviously the purists will scoff at any recordings done with compression. But like so many other shows, we may not always have alternate sources of the higher quality that we so desire. The first source I received was from my good friend, Armijn Hemel. He made five 3-minute clips with his digital camera of "After Forever", "Into The Void" and the "Sleeping Village" intro for "Children Of The Grave" (with just a minute of COTG). Sadly, the sound quality turned out to be distorted mush and the video isn't all that telling either. I was able to salvage Ozzy's band introductions and "SV" to post on the Nijmegen 2005 reviews page, but the rest weren't good enough to use. Source #2 was recorded by Coen Floren with a portable MP3 recorder. He managed to get 4 songs - "War Pigs", "Iron Man", "Black Sabbath" and "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath: [intro] / "Paranoid". This recording is only a marginal improvement on the 1st source (fair verses poor) and suffers from level distortion. Source #3 is 2:30 clip of "Fairies Wear Boots" & a 1:30 clip of "Black Sabbath" recorded by Michele Mellia. He says the audio is "good" on this one, but I'm still waiting to hear (and see) these. Source #4 is a VG+ recording of the complete show. Thanks to Lars Bernstroem for this info! |
| 6/20/05 | Wiener Stadthalle | Wien (Vienna) | Ozzy gets the crowd going -> Intro-Sabbath Medley <4:46>, N.I.B. <5:19>, After Forever <5:07>, War Pigs <8:14>, Band Introductions <1:35>, Dirty Women <9:29>, Fairies Wear Boots <5:56> -> Symptom of the Universe (Instrumental) <:43> -> Sweet Leaf [short arrangement] <:57> -> Electric Funeral <5:13>, Iron Man <8:31>, Into the Void <7:01>, Black Sabbath <9:23>, The Wizard <4:20>, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (intro) [faded in] -> Paranoid [includes intermission] <7:01>, E: A Bit Of Finger <:57> -> Children Of The Grave <6:33> | AUD | VG+ audience recording of complete show. Sony-ECM719 > Sharp MD MT888 > Wavelab4. |
| 6/25/05 | 'Rock Wave Festival' - Terra Vibe | Malakasa (Athens) | Intro-Sabbath Medley, N.I.B., After Forever, War Pigs, Dirty Women, Band Introductions, Fairies Wear Boots, Symptom Of The Universe [instrumental] -> Sweet Leaf [instrumental] -> Electric Funeral, Iron Man, Into The Void, Black Sabbath, The Wizard, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath [intro] -> Paranoid, E: A Bit Of Finger [intro -1:30] -> Children Of The Grave, Outro-Changes | SB/AUD | This was Black Sabbath's first performance in Greece with the original lineup. I am aware of several sources for this show, but have heard one source so far. Source #1: Poor quality audience recording of mostly complete show. I did notice a few brief cuts in the recording, but due to the poor recording, it will be difficult to document all of them well. The overall running time is 79:07. Sadly, this tape is pretty muddy and distorted overall, due to the limitations of the recorder used. The recording levels were either WAY to high or the recorder simply had no built-in limiter / compressor. The sound has been fragmented into shards of distorted tones. While it is possible to discern the songs being played, it is painful listening for sure. Only the most die-hard completists would even want to bother adding this to their collections. I really hate having to be so critical, especially since the taper was kind enough to share this freely with me. If anything, I feel disappointed for him that the recording turned out so badly. With all of the technical complaints aside, hearing this only makes me more eager to find other sources for the Athens show. Ozzy sounds to be in great form and the energy level of both the band and audience is extremely high. The crowd is singing their hearts out at every opportunity. They even chant and harmonize with guitar riffs and songs that don't often get such spirited crowd participation. For these reasons, it does sound like a performance that deserves to be immortalized in better quality. Now we just need a better source to prove my gut feeling! Leonidas S. [taper]: I recorded Sabbath's show in Greece in 20 June 2005. The place is named Tera Vibe and is in Malakasa, a suburb of Athens. The track list is the same as the other live shows on this tour. The performance of the band was excellent and Ozzy's voice was perfect. I recorded this show with a Crypto mp3 player-voice recorder. The original file was mono and in 8khz. I used a sound editor and many filters. I did it in 48khz stereo with much better sound. The sound isn't so good, but you can clearly hear the songs, the voice of Ozzy and the other instruments (especially the guitar of Iommi). I named my recording "Welcome to Hellas". (Hellas is the true name of Greece) As of May 2007, Lars Bernstroem has confirmed a soundboard source for this show as well. There are also several audience video sources for Malakasa (Athens) 2005. | 6/29/05 | T-Mobile Arena | Prague | Ozzy works the crowd -> Intro-Sabbath Medley, N.I.B., After Forever, War Pigs, Band Introductions, Dirty Women, Fairies Wear Boots, Symptom Of The Universe [instrumental] -> Sweet Leaf [instrumental] -> Electric Funeral, Iron Man, Into The Void, Black Sabbath, The Wizard, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath [intro] -> Paranoid, Intermission, E: A Bit Of Finger -> Children Of The Grave | AUD | EX- recording from digital audience video source. From a very nice audience film that was recently seeded in DVD format on Dimeadozen.org. Filmers comments: "Great gig! Ozzy, Geezer, Tony and Bill were in top form, as powerful as a band of twenty-somethings. Ozzy started to scream "Ai, ai, ai,..., I can't fucking hear you...., Oooohooohoooohoooo...", from the darkness and all people were screaming with him. The show opened with "N.I.B." When Sabbath came on stage, the audience went crazy. There were no songs on that the crowd wasn't singing, which made Ozzy really happy. He was laughing and smiling all the time. He was ravishing - doing his bunny hops, falling to his knees in mock adoration when introducing Tony Iommi, beckoning the crowd to join in, revealing his ass in short, throwing buckets of water in the audience. Some of the younger people in the audience who had never seen him live on stage before couldn't believe this was the same man they had seen on the TV. We could feel sea of energy, drive and pleasure from the stage... Great evening I will never forget..." "Download and enjoy yourselves - play loud and spread free all over the world! Notice: Due to seeking the best place and way to catch the show the picture of the first song is rather unfocused and jittery. Sorry for that." |
| 7/1/05 | Roskilde Festival | Roskilde | Intro-Sabbath Medley, N.I.B., After Forever, War Pigs, Fairies Wear boots, Dirty Women, Symptom Of The Universe [instrumental] -> Sweet Leaf [instrumental] -> Electric Funeral, Iron Man, Into The Void, Black Sabbath, The Wizard, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath [intro] -> Paranoid, E: A Bit Of Finger [only 10 seconds of guitar] -> Children Of The Grave | AUD | Excellent MiniDisc audience recording. S. Heller: "I can confirm that I made an audience recording of the Sabbath show from the center about 15 meters from the stage. Phenomenal sound. SHARP MT290 MiniDisc with Core Sound Cardiod Microphones. I chopped out the audience around the encores so that it fits on an 80min CD. The set is the same as all the shows except they don't do "Sleeping Village". Tony plays like 10 seconds of the riff, but they stop right away." |
| 7/3/05 | Globen | Stockholm | Source #1 (Excerpts): Dirty Women, Fairies Wear Boots, Iron Man, Into The Void Source #3 (Mobile Phone footage - fragments): After Forever <:56>, War Pigs <:51>, Fairies Wear Boots <:41>, Medley: Symptom Of The Universe -> Sweet Leaf -> Electric Funeral <1:39>, Iron Man introduction <1:22>, Iron Man pt. 2 <:32>, Ozzy introduces Into The Void <:20>, Into The Void ,:04>, Black Sabbath <:08>, Paranoid <:04>, Paranoid pt. 2 <:03>, Children Of The Grave <:04>, Children Of The Grave pt. 2 <:03> [Total Running Time - 6:47] |
AUD | Three known audience sources, but only fragmentary versions are circulating. Source #1 is the audio from a very shaky audience film done very close to the front on Geezer's side of the stage. This footage can currently be viewed in Windows Media format at http://www.sabbath2005sweden.tk/. This film contains some long excerpts from "Dirty Women", "Fairies Wear Boots", "Iron Man" and "Into The Void". The running time of this sample is 12-minutes, but I'm not certain if this is the complete film or not. An alleged second source is a 2-camera audience film. I'll have more information as it becomes available. Source #3 is about 7 minutes of fragmentary footage captured with a mobile phone. Shot from the extreme left side of the stage in the bleachers (Geezer’s side), the filming alternates between wide shots of the stage and a video screen on the opposite side of the venue. Of course, the band doesn’t look much bigger than small insects without the benefit of a zoom lens, but you make out Ozzy dancing around and clapping his hands and some basic stage movements. There are 13 clips in all, with the longest clips being roughly a minute to 90 seconds each. The sound is fair at best – distorted mono sound at a low bit-rate (8 kbps). [Thanks to Lars Bernstroem for providing this source] |
| 7/5/05 | Hartwall Arena | Helsinki | Intro-Sabbath Medley, N.I.B., After Forever, War Pigs, Band Introductions, Dirty Women, Fairies Wear Boots, Medley: Symptom Of The Universe [instrumental] -> Sweet Leaf [instrumental] -> Electric Funeral, Iron Man, Into The Void, Black Sabbath, The Wizard, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath [intro] -> Paranoid, E: A Bit Of Finger -> Children Of The Grave | AUD | Audience recording done with Sony THMDN2600. CD-R's: LIVE AT HARTWALL ARENA |
| 7/7/05 | Spektrum | Oslo | Pre-show workup by Ozzy -> Intro-Sabbath Medley, N.I.B., After Forever, War Pigs, Band Introductions, Dirty Women, Fairies Wear Boots, Medley: Symptom Of The Universe [instrumental] -> Sweet Leaf [instrumental] -> Electric Funeral, Iron Man, Into The Void, Black Sabbath, The Wizard, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath [intro] -> Paranoid, E: A Bit Of Finger -> Children Of The Grave | AUD | Three known audio sources, which includes a fragmentary audio track from an incomplete video of the show. Source #1: Excellent audience recording of complete show. Running time is approximately 93 minutes. Very clear recording with a fairly well balanced sound mix. Geezer sounds a tad bit louder than Tony at the beginning of the show, but their volumes seem to even out as the show progresses. A fragmentary audience film (filmed by Sabbathlive's Jan Hoel) with footage from the first two songs also exists from this gig, but is not currently circulating. Sabbath's 2nd to last show in Oslo was completely sold out. The band comes out strong with solidly performed renditions of "N.I.B." and "After Forever". Ozzy stays in key throughout both numbers despite his thin and somewhat reedy tone. "War Pigs" finds his voice just slightly off kilter in spots before his voice pitches sharply while introducing “MEE-STER” Bill Ward. His voice problems become more painfully apparent during the often troublesome bridge and outro sections for "Dirty Women". Aside from squeaking out "All right now!" in his brief vocal for "Sweet Leaf", Ozzy is able to complete the rest of the show in a much smoother fashion. Solid renditions of "Into The Void", "Black Sabbath" and "The Wizard" also help steer the show back onto a steadier course. By the end of "Children Of The Grave" (with only a few spotty moments from Oz), all is forgiven and Sabbath end the show in good form. Source #2: DeeP: "Great site you have there! It's been a great help to me in helping try and obtain some Black Sabbath bootlegs. I've managed to get a few copies of the 'better' quality shows you've recommended. Also through the site I did manage to find and download the Oslo show from 2005, which was great as I was there on the night. I also managed to record the same show using a Sony Minidisc Recorder. The quality is excellent, slightly apart during the start of 'Black Sabbath' when a couple of Czech blokes are heard talking. Don't know what they're saying! My recording also has the 'play-out' song of 'Changes' on the end, as the crowd are leaving the arena. You can really feel the atmosphere of the crowd - there's a girl occasionally screaming through the show, but this doesn't spoil the recording, just enhances the vibe. I was upstairs, on right side, stage looking and about 1/2 way back." |
