| 2/23/84 | Lakeland Civic Center | Lakeland | FL | U.S. | Motley Crue | Cancelled. Ozzy was forced to cancel and reschedule a number of gigs in the Southeastern U.S. due to an injury he sustained while filming the "So Tired" video. From Pacific Stars And Stripes (2/27/84): NEW YORK (UPI) - "Heavy metal rocker Ozzy Osbourne, who was hit with shards of glass while filming a rock video in London, was treated for cuts in his throat at a New York hospital. The 35-year old singer did not damage his vocal chords in what his publicist described as a 'freak accident'. Osbourne was listed in stable condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was undergoing tests to determine whether more glass was lodged in his throat or neck." ""I tell you, the productions are getting dangerous," said Osbourne's publicist, Michael Jensen. He referred to the recent filming of a Pepsi commercial where pop star Michael Jackson suffered burns to his scalp." "Osbourne, formerly of Black Sabbath, was filming a rock video for "So Tired," a love ballad on his newest album, "Bark At The Moon," when the accident occured. The British rocker was singing into a mirror at Her Majesty's Theater in London and the script called for the glass to be shattered." ""They hit it from behind and it shattered. The only problem was that they used a real mirror instead of a breakaway mirror," said Jensen. "He was covered with shards of glass, "said Jensen." "Osbourne apparently did not realize he had been injured until he was aboard the Concorde supersonic jet bound for New York's Kennedy Airport. "I guess he didn't realize the extent of the problem until he flew to New York to fulfill some other commitments," said Shirley Kaminsky, a spokeswoman for Peninsul Hospital in Queens where Osbourne was admitted. He was treated at the Queens hospital, then transferred to Mount Sinai around 8 p.m." ""There were lacerations to the back of the throat. His vocal chords are fine. There is a lump on the side of his neck and they think there sill may be a piece of glass in there," said Jensen. "It was one of those freak, stupid accidents," said Jensen, who declined comment on whether Osbourne would file a lawsuit." "His injury forced Osbourne to cancel concerts in Lakeland, Fla., Miami, Birmingham, Ala., and Atlanta. A concert set for Knoxville, Tenn., has been rescheduled. Jensen said Osbourne hopes to be well in time to keep his commitment to present the Grammy award for best rock album by a group or due at the certmonies in Los Angeles. He also plans to keep a March 1 concert date in Memphis." "Osbourne sang and played the harmonica for the group Black Sabbath from 1970 to 1980, the year he formed the Blizzard of Oz. He has developed a reputation for his ghoulish stage antics with live animals." |

Cancelled. Robert Evans: "I can assure you that the 6/6/97 Philadelphia gig never took place. I live in the Philly area and have seen every local Sabbath show & related solo performances that they have made since 1980 and the above gig never took place. The only appearance ANY of them made (in the Philly area) in ’97 was Ozzfest @ the Sony Blockbuster E-Centre (Now called the Tweeter Centre) in Camden NJ on June 8,1997. |

Neither Black Sabbath or the Ozzy Osbourne band appeared at this show, but did return on July 1st for a makeup date. Ozzfest attendees didn’t learn of Ozzy’s cancellation until about 9 hours after the gates first opened. Member of several Ozzfest bands (Pantera, Type O Negative, Fear Factory and Marilyn Manson) assembled an ad-hoc Ozzy tribute band to fill in for the missing headliners. They performed a short set of Ozzy covers including "I Don't Know", "Mr. Crowley", "Suicide Solution", "Crazy Train" [Marilyn Manson-vocals], and "Bark At The Moon". Their show lasted just over 35 minutes and did little to soothe the disappointed crowd. Many were still waiting for Ozzy to come out and do his thing, but Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo had to break the bad news that the really was over. From MTV News: The capacity crowd of 20,000 was less than thrilled with the news, and about 1,000 of them took their anger out on the venue. Fans smashed box office windows, ripped down panels from a wooden fence, and lit small fires around the amphitheater ground. According to the "Columbus Dispatch," the crowd also seriously damaged at least one car, and destroyed trees and fences on neighboring property. This riot resulted in the arrest of 23 attendees. "When one of the band members announced that Ozzy wasn't here, the guys ran to the fence and started tearing it down," one fan told a local news crew of the situation. “All of a sudden bonfires broke out on the lawn and people were setting seats on fire, setting the wall on fire, and I work here... not tonight. But I have to clean up all of this stuff up tomorrow." "They were just trashing the place 'cause everybody's angry," another fan said. "We need our money back because we didn't get our concert." Five fans were treated for minor injuries, one was charged by police with disorderly conduct, and the venue hopes to announce refund information in a few days. Ozzy's publicist would only say that Ozzy will be back with Ozzfest for Thursday night's show at Chicago's World Amphitheater. |

BBC News (11/11/2001): "Singer Ozzy Osbourne is to postpone forthcoming gigs having broken his leg without noticing.
