NEWSGROUPS & FORUMS

Here is a listing of some newsgroups and message boards where you can chat about Sabbath incessantly!  This is a great way to get the latest gossip from the grapevine.  It's also a quick way to fill up your Inbox!  I've met some very cool (as well as extremely deranged) individuals on these forums, so please proceed with those possibilities in mind.  These are virtual meeting posts where everyone is free to speak their mind, as long as they're not being a troll or 'asshat'!

This listing is just a start, so don't get your panties in a wad if I haven't acknowledged the cool newsgroup that you belong to.  I won't know to mention if you won't tell me about it!

Black-Sabbath.com Forum:  New!!  Launched in November 2004 by Joe Siegler, this forum looks to be one of the more comprehensive boards for Black Sabbath fans. Although there are many other newsgroups out there, no one has been covering Sabbath on the web longer than Joe Siegler.  I was actually surprised that he would want to do this IN ADDITION to his regular newsletter AND website, but he obviously loves this subject!

Joe asked me if I'd be interested in moderating on the forums.  I was initially reluctant about this, since I have a hard enough time getting through my e-mail for SABBATHLIVE!  But I also hated to pass up this opportunity, so I have agreed to take part as much as time allows me to.  I'll mainly be handling the TOUR DATES section, so start a thread there if you'd like to get my attention with something interesting.

The Tony Iommi Message Board:  This one got my vote for #1 Sabbath related message board for 2003.  Launched back in May 2003, the moderators (Red Sabbath, Lars & The Eternal Idol) do quite well in keeping the forums interesting and on topic.  Mr. Iommi himself has made at a few appearances here to answer fan questions, so this is certainly one to watch!

Black_Sabbath at Yahoo Groups:  I've been subscribed to this group for several years, but lately it seems to be getting a bit 'slow' in terms of content.  Here's a quick shout out to Marco, Travis, Karol, Mike Alexander, Romulo, Greg and all of the other cool guys in this group.  I believe there are some other Sabbath groups on Yahoo Groups as well, but this is the only one I currently belong to!  It's moderated just enough to keep the spammers out.

Black Sabbath Mailing List:  Joe Siegler of Black-Sabbath.com has been moderating this list / newsletter for many years now.  As of April 25th, he's up to Issue #1111!  You'll often find some some good Sabbath trivia mixed in here, as well as hear the latest vents from the Sabbath fan community.  If you go too far out of line here, Joe will be sure to give you his 2 cents (and maybe even delete your mail as it comes in).  Just don't try his patience with questions like "Where did the name Black Sabbath come from" or "How old or tall is Ronnie James Dio" or he's liable to shove his FAQ's right up your nose!  And PLEASE send your posts in text format ONLY.  He hates to spend his evenings stripping the HTML from our correspondence!

Black Sabbath Board (German language) Markus Polczer of Austria launched this new forum for German speaking Black Sabbath fans in October 2006.

The Dio Message Board:  This is a truly GREAT message board with lots of knowledgeable Dio fans.  What makes it even better is the layout and functionality of the board itself, which is quite easy to use, but contains many advanced features.  And it doesn't hurt when people like Vinny Appice, Doug Aldrich and Bob Daisley decide to drop in every now and then.  If you're a fan of the Dio era Sabbath, then do yourself a favor and visit this board!

Alt.Music.Black-Sabbath:  One of the older Sabbath newsgroups out there, but this one has been fairly slow and unexciting duringf 2003.  This is probably one of the first groups that I visited when I got on the Internet.  Unfortunately, many of these "old school" newsgroups are regularly frequented by trolls who just want some special attention.  Quickly becoming a wasteland...

Ronnie James Dio Unofficial Message Board:  New Dio forum, just launched in March 2005!
