TOUR REVIEWS

August 13th - Shoreline Amphitheatre - Mountain View, CA, U.S.

Jeff Carney:

The show was excellent.  Iommi was absolutely superb, of course.  He really stretched out.  A couple of things to note about Ozzy since I know folks are probably concerned as to whether he's going to make it through the rest of the tour.  He did not attempt the end of "Dirty Women," where the "Walking the streets..." section comes in.  He left the stage and the band went wild.  Tony soloed for maybe 5 minutes.  Unbelievable.

Ozzy had some problems with the voice but I would suspect he is certainly going to be able to finish the tour.  His voice actually sounded great on "Children Of The Grave," almost as if he kicked into another gear.  He had a bit of trouble early on, particularly in "After Forever," and of course he often sings the a cappella bits in "War Pigs" off-key anyway... so that was okay.  He sounded excellent on "Black Sabbath," as well.  The crowd went berserk for the entire show, of course.  An excellent show.

Bill and Geezer were tremendous.  The band sounded very, very good.  They did cut "After Forever" short by one verse, and my sense was that this was a bit of a train wreck but they came out of it very well and it was hardly noticeable.  I am assuming they didn't cut that song down by one verse to help Ozzy's voice.  I didn't see any other bands except a bit of Maiden.  I went to see the Sabs and they didn't disappoint!  I've seen them 7 times now.  First time was 1982
